PLC Programmer / Automation Engineer supports the ramp-up of new production lines and automated equipment during trial runs, pilot production, and serial production start-up.
Responsible for PLC system functionality, fault diagnostics, and process optimization to ensure stable, efficient production with minimal downtime. Works closely with maintenance, production, process engineering, and automation teams.
Experienced in supporting automotive manufacturing, including systems for locks, handles, and mechatronic door solutions, as well as automated assembly lines, robotic stations, and testing equipment used in serial production.
Key responsibilities:
- Support ramp-up of new production lines and automation equipment
- Diagnose and resolve PLC and machine-related faults
- Modify and optimize PLC programs based on production needs
- Tune sensors, drives, HMI panels, and industrial communication systems
- Support maintenance to reduce downtime
- Optimize cycle time and process stability
- Support pilot runs, validation, and SOP start-up
- Analyze issues and propose technical improvements during ramp-up
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams
- Escalate critical issues and support root cause analysis
Candidate profile:
- Technical education in automation, electrical engineering, or mechatronics
- Experience in PLC programming and industrial automation
- Knowledge of Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or similar PLC systems
- Experience in automotive manufacturing environment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to work under pressure
- English or German language skills are an advantage
